A gorgeous example of Chinese Classical Dance, Dance of the Heavenly Flower Maiden is based on a well know Beijing Opera act. The Flower Maiden Goddess is asked by Buddha to heal a terrible plague on earth. The ribbon symbolizes the wind, clouds and rainbow that move with her as she travels through the sky, spreading the power of healing to the suffering world. Nai-Ni Chen's highly refined dance steps and gestures are derived from an ancient Chinese painting of the Queen and Princess in the Tang Emperors palace. |
